Installing windows and doors locally since 1986

Window & Door Installation in Kitchener-Waterloo

GTS Windows & Doors is a Kitchener window and door company that has been measuring, installing and repairing windows and doors across Waterloo Region since 1986. We work from 47 Bridge Street East in the Bridgeport area, and window installation is our lead service. Entry doors, patio doors, glass replacement and commercial openings round out the work.

Our customers are homeowners replacing drafty originals, property managers looking after rental and condo buildings, general contractors and builders who need openings finished on schedule, and business owners updating storefronts and entrances. Residential and commercial jobs follow the same approach: an on-site measure, a written quote and an installation that is flashed, insulated and sealed to the wall, not just caulked at the trim. Four decades of opening up local walls has taught us what hides behind old frames and how to deal with it properly.

We serve Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph, the townships of Woolwich, Wellesley, Wilmot and Puslinch, and communities such as Elora, Rockwood and Acton. GTS is licensed, insured and WSIB covered, we install ENERGY STAR rated products, and every window and door we put in is backed by a 20-year parts and labour warranty. Our office is open seven days a week, with evening hours Monday to Saturday for customers who work during the day.

Window Installation and Replacement for Kitchener-Waterloo Homes

Most of our residential work is swapping tired windows for new ENERGY STAR rated units through a planned window replacement. When the opening is new, enlarged or needs framing repair, our window installation service covers the rough opening, flashing, insulation and interior finishing.

Styles include casement, awning, double hung, slider, picture, bay and bow windows. Frames come in vinyl, fibreglass, aluminum and wood, and glass ranges from double pane Low-E with argon up to triple pane.

Before you sign, we explain whether a retrofit or full-frame install suits each opening. The right method depends on the condition of the existing frame and whether you want to keep your interior trim.

Energy-Efficient, Triple Pane and Low-E Windows

Low-E coatings, argon fill, warm-edge spacers and triple glazing cut heat loss and room-side condensation through a Waterloo Region winter. The ENERGY STAR products we install can also count toward Ontario's Home Renovation Savings rebate when bundled with other upgrades.

Custom, Acoustic and Stained Glass Windows

Not every opening is a standard rectangle. We install made-to-measure arches, trapezoids and circles, laminated acoustic glass for homes near busy roads or rail lines, and stained or decorative glass for entries, stairwells and bathrooms.

Entry, Patio and French Doors

A new front door changes how a house looks, locks and holds heat. We install insulated steel entry doors for security and value, fibreglass doors that resist denting and can carry a realistic wood grain, and solid wood doors for heritage and custom homes.

At the back of the house, we replace sticking sliding patio doors and install hinged French doors that open a kitchen or family room onto the deck. Screen doors finish the opening for summer, and you can see every style and material on our exterior doors page.

Window and Door Repairs

Not every problem needs a new unit. Our window repair service fixes the issues that show up as windows and doors reach middle age.

  • Foggy or cracked glass: new sealed units in single, double or triple pane
  • Frame damage: vinyl, aluminum and wood frame repair
  • Hardware: cranks, locks, latches and balances
  • Sliders: rollers and tracks on sliding windows and patio doors
  • Air leaks: caulking, sealing and new weatherstripping

Commercial Windows and Doors for Waterloo Region Businesses

Property managers, general contractors and business owners call us for aluminum storefronts, glass entrance doors, commercial steel doors and frames, and window replacement in offices and multi-unit buildings. We plan the work around tenants and business hours so the building keeps running.

Our crews carry WSIB coverage and liability insurance, which most commercial sites require before anyone starts. Read how we handle scope, scheduling and site safety on our commercial windows and doors page.

What New Windows and Doors Cost in Kitchener

Price depends on size, style, material and how much work the opening needs. These are typical installed ranges in Waterloo Region for 2026, including removal, disposal and interior finishing.

ProductTypical installed price
Standard vinyl casement or slider window$700 to $1,500 per window
Triple pane vinyl or fibreglass window$950 to $2,000 per window
Bay or bow window$4,500 to $10,000
Steel or fibreglass entry door$2,500 to $6,500
Sliding patio door$2,800 to $6,000
Replacement sealed glass unit$250 to $700 per unit

Rebates, Permits and Heritage Homes

Ontario's Home Renovation Savings program offers $100 per rough opening for ENERGY STAR certified windows and doors, as part of a bundle of upgrades that starts with a home energy assessment. Eligibility depends on your home and heating fuel, so confirm it before you order.

In Kitchener, replacing a window or door within its existing opening, with no structural change, generally does not need a building permit. Adding a new opening or widening an existing one does.

Properties in Kitchener's heritage conservation districts, Victoria Park, Civic Centre, St. Mary's and Upper Doon, or designated individually, may need a heritage permit before windows or doors change. We flag this at the measure so it is sorted before anything is ordered.

Window and Door Questions We Hear Most

How much does it cost to replace a window in Kitchener?

A standard vinyl replacement window typically costs $700 to $1,500 installed, and triple pane or fibreglass units cost more. Size, style, custom shapes, retrofit versus full-frame installation and any rot repair are the main cost drivers. We confirm the exact price after an on-site measure.

Do you install windows and doors in winter?

Yes. We replace one opening at a time, so each room is only open to the cold for a short stretch, and we use sealants and foams rated for cold-weather application. Many homeowners book winter installs because that is when drafts are most noticeable.

Do you work with builders, contractors and property managers?

Yes. We install windows and doors in new construction, additions and renovations for builders and general contractors, and we handle ongoing replacement and repair work for property managers. Storefronts, entrances and commercial steel doors are part of that work as well.

What does your 20-year warranty cover?

Our warranty covers both parts and labour on the windows and doors we install for 20 years. If a covered component fails, the replacement part and the work to fit it are included. Your written warranty sets out the full terms and exclusions.

How long does a typical window installation take?

A standard replacement window usually takes one to two hours to remove, install and finish. A typical house of 10 to 15 windows takes one to three days on site. Custom products are generally ordered 4 to 8 weeks ahead of the install date.
