Commercial Window and Door Projects in Kitchener and Waterloo Region

GTS Windows & Doors has handled commercial window and door work in Kitchener and across Waterloo Region since 1986, alongside our residential installations. Our commercial customers are property managers, general contractors, builders, business owners and commercial real estate firms who need openings installed or replaced without shutting down the people using the building. Typical buildings include neighbourhood retail plazas, offices, clinics, apartment and condo buildings, and industrial units.

This page describes the kinds of commercial projects we take on and how each one typically runs, from the first site walk to handover. A retail storefront, a leased office floor and an occupied apartment building each come with different constraints, so we scope, schedule and staff them differently. For the full list of systems we supply, see our commercial windows and doors services.

GTS is licensed, insured and WSIB covered, which general contractors, property managers and building owners usually need to see before granting site access. Warranty terms for commercial work are written into each contract, so owners and managers know exactly what is covered once the job is handed over. Certificates of insurance and WSIB clearance are available on request, and we coordinate with site supervisors on safety orientation and access.

Retail and Storefront Projects

Storefront work usually means replacing aluminum-framed glazing and entrances on plazas, main street shops and restaurants. Typical scopes include thermally broken aluminum frames, insulated glass and commercial glass entrance doors with closers and panic hardware.

We can sequence removals so a store keeps trading, including early-morning or after-hours work, and each opening is secured the same day.

Office and Institutional Window Walls

Offices, clinics and similar buildings often use ribbon windows or window wall systems that run between floor slabs. Replacing them floor by floor, or bay by bay, lets tenants stay in place while the work moves through the building.

Our commercial window installation page covers the frame and glass options for these buildings.

Apartment and Condo Projects

In multi-unit residential buildings, window and balcony door replacement runs suite by suite on a schedule agreed with the property manager or condo board. Residents get notice, each suite is closed up at the end of the day, and hallways and elevators are protected and cleaned.

Steel Door and Frame Packages

Industrial units, warehouses and mixed-use buildings rely on hollow metal doors and frames that stand up to heavy use, and some openings must carry a fire-resistance rating. We supply and install commercial steel doors and frames with hardware matched to the door schedule.

Once they are in, our commercial door repair service keeps closers, hinges and locks working.
